When can you expect to get the “final results” after surgery?
All patients should ignore how things look in the beginning, as it takes time to see the final breast augmentation results. As a general guide, at 6 weeks post-op, most of the swelling has settled and you can really start to appreciate how things are going to look. This is also when you can go out and be fitted for new bras.
However, it typically takes 3-6 months for the breasts to fully settle into position, and some people use the term “drop and fluff” to describe this stage, which basically refers to the implants settling and the breasts softening.
This is also when we finally assess our results and appreciate how great they are, or on the very rare occasion, decide if anything else needs to be done to “fine tune” the result – which is quite uncommon for a breast augmentation.
