The surgical procedure required to address the mons will depend entirely on the patient concerns. The mons issues can be any of the following:
Monsplasty is a surgical procedure that is designed to create a far smoother, firmer and natural contour from pubic region to abdominal wall. Depending on your needs, the procedure may involve:
The mons pubis is the region immediately above the genitals and overlying the pubic bone. It can become prominent for a variety of reasons, and certain life events can cause it to become enlarged and/or ptotic (saggy):
Changes to the mons region, especially severe ptosis (which is very common following MWL), can have serious impacts on quality of life, including self-hygiene issue, intimacy concerns, discomfort and clothing issues.
When Dr Dona performs an abdominoplasty, regardless of what, then a monsplasty is a routine part of this surgery. With few exceptions, Dr Dona believes that every patient that is undergoing an abdominoplasty requires a monsplasty. This is especially the case in those who have experienced MWL. As such, it is a routine part of practically every abdominoplasty he performs.
Of course, there exists a small group of patients who require a monsplasty but do not need an abdominoplasty. This is typically the younger patients who for whatever reason have developed with a very full mons region. Often genetics play a large role in the development of a larger mons in thos individuals.
You may consider Monsplasty surgery if:

When performed in isolation, a monsplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes between 1–2 hours, depending on the complexity. When combined with an abdominoplasty, then it will of ocourse take as long as that primary procedure – anywhere from 2-5 hours. Dr Dona will:
For a monsplasty performed in isolation, most patients return to light activities within 2 weeks. There will be swelling, bruising, and some numbness in the area. You will be prescribed pain medication to address any discomfort that you will experience. You are typically cleared to return to normal activities after 4 weeks.
Full results will take 3-6 months.
