Pubic Lift Surgery (Monsplasty) Sydney

When discussing Body Contouring Surgery (BCS), some of the key surgical procedures include the Abdominoplasty, Brachioplasty (arm reductions) and Breast Reductions. However, an area that is not frequently discussed in isolation is the pubic region, otherwise known as the mons pubis. This is an extremely important region to both men and women considering BCS, and it is often referred to as the “FUPA” (Fat Upper Pubic Area). Regardless of the underlying cause -  pregnancy, significant weight loss, aging, or genetics -  a prominent and ptotic (saggy) mons pubis is often a majr source of both social and physical discomfort. Fortunately, surgery does exist to address concerns to this region, to help flatten, tighten and lift it, and thus create a smoother contour from pubic region to abdominal wall. This type of surgery, referred to as Pubic Lift, or Monsplasty, is a key component of any comprehensive BCS plan.

What Is Pubic Lift Surgery (Monsplasty)?

The surgical procedure required to address the mons will depend entirely on the patient concerns. The mons issues can be any of the following:

  1. Excess fatty tissue with good skin quality and no ptosis (droop)
  2. Excess fatty tissue and droop. This can occur with good quality skin, but it is typically associated with poor skin quality which is typical following MWL.
  • Mild droop
  • Moderate droop
  • Severe droop, with the mons region effectively completely detached from the abdominal wall with displacement of the vulva. It male patients, this can result in a buried penis.

Monsplasty is a surgical procedure that is designed to  create a far smoother, firmer and natural contour from pubic region to abdominal wall. Depending on your needs, the procedure may involve:

  • Removal of excess fat
  • Removal of excess skin
  • Lifting and tightening the mons region to help tighten and flatten it.
  • In females, this results in lifting and repositioning of the vulva
  • In male patients, this can help expose a buried penis
