Sun Damage Treatment Sydney

‘Sun damage’ refers to some of the most common brown spots on our skin, such as freckles, age spots and liver spots. These skin spots usually contain a very high concentration of melanin (pigment). Within Australia, this occurs due to exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays. In addition, skin spots and blemishes can develop as part of the ageing process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from the treatment?

Prior to treatment, your skin will be cleansed thoroughly, and a set of clinical photos will be taken. Your sunspot(s) will be removed within minutes using our state-of-the-art laser device, which is equipped with a small, pen-like head to target sunspots specifically.

How many treatments are required?

Sunspots, freckles and age spots will be removed during your first treatment. However, subsequent touch-up treatment may be required if there is any residual pigmentation.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment is often termed comfortable and tolerated well by most patients. However, you will have the option to receive a topical anaesthetic to numb the area being treated.

Treatment results

In terms of aesthetic results, the removal of your sunspots, age spots, freckles and other skin blemishes will be noticeable immediately following your first treatment.

Following your laser treatment, new skin will form in the treated areas, usually there will be some redness, skin crusting, and scabbing during the healing process. For the next few weeks, your treated areas will continue to heal, and the scab will eventually fall off, leaving a red mark. This red mark is due to increased blood vessels that form to heal and repair the skin; in time, the redness will dissipate, and the skin will heal.
