How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?

Tue 22nd Aug 2023

Rhinoplasty surgery is commonly termed a ‘nose job’ and involves changing the shape and size of the nose to enhance facial appearance and harmony.

Dr Dona’s in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy, combined with years of surgical experience and state-of-the-art techniques, ensures that his patients receive excellent aesthetic outcomes.

A frequently asked question regarding Rhinoplasty surgery is how much does the procedure cost?

There are a number of factors that contribute to the cost of Rhinoplasty surgery, including:

  • The complexity of the surgery required
  • Surgeon’s fee
  • Hospital fee
  • Anaesthetist’s fee

The cost of Rhinoplasty surgery can vary given every nose is uniquely structured, potentially altering how the surgery is performed to achieve the patient’s desired appearance.

It should also be noted that the cost of Rhinoplasty for a ‘first time’ (primary) procedure is usually less than surgery for a ‘second time’ (revision) procedure as the latter is surgically more complex.

There are three main types of procedures that are carried out to improve the aesthetic appearance of the nose which are:

1)      Open Rhinoplasty – this is when a substantial reshaping of the nose must occur, and incisions are made in the columella, which allows a clear view of the inner anatomy of the nose as the skin and tissue are lifted. After exposing the structural components of the nose, specific techniques are applied to alter the shape of the nose, and each nose will have unique requirements.

2)      Secondary Rhinoplasty – this is performed at the patient’s request following ‘first time (primary) surgery. A patient may choose further enhancements to the appearance of their nose and a subsequent ‘revision’ is often more complex and will attract higher fees.

3)      Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty – This is a specialised procedure that uses injectable gel-like products (known as Filler) to ‘conceal’ a dorsal hump found on the bridge of the nose, elevate the nose tip, and make other adjustments to improve the appearance of the nasal contour.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty (also known as nose Filler) is a prevalent treatment for patients wanting to avoid invasive surgery. Similar to other Rhinoplasty treatments, Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty can correct asymmetry and reshape the nose.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty differs from surgical Rhinoplasty in how the treatment is performed. Non-surgical Rhinoplasty is performed in our clinic as a walk-in, walk-out procedure. This is in contrast to a surgical Rhinoplasty performed in a hospital requiring a general anaesthetic.

Before treatment, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the nose to minimise discomfort. The treatment involves the precise placement/injection of Semi-Permanent Dermal Filler in targeted areas of the nose to balance and restore nose imperfections. Our Semi-Permanent Fillers are designed to last for 18 to 24 months.

The cost of Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty is typically around $2,500, and if required, a ‘touch-up’ fee of $300 will apply.

Initial Consultation

The first step towards your transformation is to request a consultation for Rhinoplasty surgery with Dr Dona. Dr Dona will assess your nose structure and accompanying facial features during your initial consultation. He will also provide a detailed explanation of the surgery procedures, including post-surgery and after-care.

Following your initial consultation with Dr Dona, you will receive a surgical plan tailored to your needs. Your plan will include a quotation and breakdown of the various cost elements. If you choose to proceed with the surgery, one of our friendly patient liaison officers will discuss potential dates for your surgery.

Surgeons Fee

Dr Dona’s fee forms a large part of the overall cost associated with Rhinoplasty surgery and this portion of the fee is known as the ‘surgeons fee’.

Hospital Fee for Rhinoplasty Surgery

Hospital fees are another factor in the cost of Rhinoplasty Surgery that varies quite significantly, as the fees will vary depending on the facility/hospital you attend. Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery procedures are performed in private hospitals, meaning that the most substantial cost associated with your hospital fee is the fee for the theatre room and your post-operative care in recovery. In most cases, you will not be required to stay overnight post-surgery.

Anaesthetist Fee for Rhinoplasty Surgery

The anaesthetist is a specialist doctor who will administer an anaesthetic that will safely put you to sleep for the duration of the surgery.

There is no standard cost scale for the anaesthetist fee as it is determined by the duration of the surgical procedure. Rhinoplasty surgery can take anywhere between 2 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure.

The anaesthetist will meet with you prior to your surgery to discuss the process of the anaesthesia, which includes the benefits and risks and will inform you of any antibiotics or pain medication prescribed to you during post-operation recovery. Your anaesthetist will be with you just prior to and during your Rhinoplasty procedure. Your anaesthetist will also follow-up with you after your procedure to ensure that you are recovering well and that your prescribed medications are well-tolerated.

Post-Operative Appointments/Care

Your recovery process will be dictated by the type of procedure required: Rhinoplasty or Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty surgery – your post-operative plan will be detailed and involve multiple weekly in-clinic post-operative care visits with our amazing nursing team that will continue for at least five weeks. Unlike most Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Clinics, we integrate light-based therapy into your post-operative wound healing journey. Light therapy expedites the healing process by helping your body reabsorb fluid faster and reducing inflammation. Since swelling and inflammation are the main cause of pain, you will find your post-surgery recovery far more comfortable.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty – Non-Surgical Rhinoplasties are performed in our clinic, as a walk-in walk-out procedure with very little downtime. You may experience minor swelling and bruising on and around the treated area. Following your procedure, you can apply makeup to the treated area to conceal bruising, we will recommend the best types of makeup to use.

How much does Rhinoplasty cost?

The total cost for Rhinoplasty surgery will depend on the type of Rhinoplasty procedure you require to achieve your desired aesthetic outcomes. However, as a guide, the total out-of-pocket cost starts from $26,500.

All prices stated in this description of Rhinoplasty surgery are estimates only but a firm quotation will be provided by Dr Dona following your initial consultation.
