Anti-wrinkle injections are a safe and effective non-surgical treatment method for facial rejuvenation. They have been clinically proven to prevent and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The product is a natural purified protein that is restricted to use by medical practitioners only. The Therapeutic Goods Administration prohibits the promotional use of product names in Australia. For this reason, medical practitioners will use names such as B Injections, Wrinkle Relaxant and Anti-Wrinkle Injections rather than specific product names.
Wrinkles are primarily formed through the repetitive contraction of facial muscles. Anti-wrinkle injections work by inhibiting neurotransmitters, which prevents the muscles from contracting. For example, anti-wrinkle injections can relax the muscles around the eyes to prevent the appearance of crow’s feet.
It is important to note that anti-wrinkle injections do not immediately improve static lines (lines that are present at rest). However, following several anti-wrinkle treatments, skin that is normally creased has time to rest and recover, and an improvement in static lines usually occurs.
Anti-wrinkle injections are used mainly for treating frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet (at the sides of the eyes). They can also be used to produce a brow lift by shaping or elevating the position of the brow.
The product has been used safely in medical treatment for over 30 years, including the application of high doses in children for treating spasticity in cerebral palsy and spasms of the eyelid and neck muscles. The doses used for cosmetic purposes are very low. With millions of patient treatments globally each year, it has a proven safety track record with no long-term side effects.
The treatment uses a small number of extremely fine needles to inject a tiny volume of the product. The discomfort experienced is minimal, and a cold pack can be used to reduce discomfort if necessary. The procedure takes only a few minutes and typically requires two to three days to begin relaxing the treated areas and reducing facial lines. The maximum effect of anti-wrinkle injections occurs one to two weeks after the treatment.
Generally, after the first few sessions, the results last around three to four months. However, after regular treatments, the results can last longer because the treated muscles have been retrained.
If you cease the treatments, your muscles will return to normal, and your wrinkles will return to their previous state—they do not become worse.
Normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. However, you should avoid strenuous exercise or massaging the area for the first four hours after treatment.
The product used by Bella Plastic Surgery has an extremely safe, proven track record over several decades, with no reported long-term side effects. Occasionally, there can be some minor short-term side effects, such as localised bruising and some redness and swelling. However, these effects are temporary and dissipate fairly quickly.
Facial rejuvenation can be further enhanced when an anti-wrinkle treatment is combined with dermal fillers. Such combination treatments are often called ‘liquid facelifts’. During your consultation, we can discuss the benefits of combination treatment in more detail and answer any questions you may have.
